Cultural Treasure Hunt

Project 2, A cultural treasure hunt consisted of a list of 32 task to take place in central London.

We had to sketch, photograph or visit each one and cross them off as we go.

I didn’t go with my group on Friday due to work commitments,

but went on the weekend and spent two days trying to complete as many of the 32 tasks as possible.

Unfortunately all 32 wasn’t achievable, for me anyway.

No vibes felt upstairs

Couldn’t find a newspaper from my date of birth

This wasn’t part of the task but I found it amusing

Stairway to Helvetica

For our first project we was put in to groups of 4 to 6 and given a typeface to research, we then had to write a song and perform it to the rest of the class.

Here are the lyrics we came up with.

Berkerville old face

Baskerville is known as a thinker

unlike his font some of the lines are thicker

this serif font looks very formal

some would say it’s quite traditional

a politician, a scientist but mostly a printer

came up with this font and knew it was a winner

The print was rediscovered in 1953

but it was designed in the 18th century

most of his work was in newspapers

this font was great as a communicator

he set up his business in 1750

studied in cambridge, where he got his degree

born 1706, past away 1755

but his typeface was still alive

thanks to a guy called isaac moore

who finalised the print and made it sore

fonts made up of thick and thin strokes

yes this man was a very clever bloke.
